B.S. Degree Requirements

Program Focuses on the Skills and Knowledge Required by Today’s Industry

The Aeronautical Science degree program blends with practical training with rigorous academic study to provide a strong foundation for a career as a Aeronautical Engineer, Aerospace Engineer, etc in the Aviation, Aerospace, Airlines, Corporate aviation etc. This approach to aviation and aerospace education gives the students added value over training programs by focusing on the skills and knowledge required by today’s industry. Foundation skills in mathematics, physics, communications and aeronautics, including FAA certification, are typically attained during the first two years of the program.

The last two years include extensive professional-level aeronautical science and aerospace engineering courses that prepare the graduate for a career as a professional engineer, scientist, etc. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are developed via computer simulations of aircraft performance, navigation, and aircraft systems operation. Effective resource management, human factors, and safety awareness are constantly emphasized throughout the curriculum.

The Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Science may be attained in eight semesters. To earn the degree, successful completion of a minimum of 120 credit hours is required.

The purpose of the Aeronautical Science degree program is to prepare the graduate for a productive career as a professional Engineer or Scientist and responsible citizenship in support of the aviation and aerospace industries. Students pursuing the Aeronautical Science degree select one of three specializations after matriculation.

All students must complete the general education courses, Aeronautical Science core courses, and the courses required to complete one (1) specialization in order to complete the requirements for the Aeronautical Science degree.
